What's so special about Harry Potter movies?!

What's so special about Harry Potter movies?

I have only seen the first harry potter movie...it was ok, but nothing to jump and holler about. Im curious, whats the hype so much about Harry Potter? Is it a kid thing or do many adults go crazy about it as well? Am i missing out on the fun or what? And yes i am over 21...

I guess it more has to do with the book than the movie. If you've read the books, you'll read some of the best fiction ever published. I think its her writing that gets you and you go to the movie to see how it works. If you don't enjoy "fantasy" movies, Harry Potter will not hit with you. I read the first 3 books and was intrigued as to how it would translate to the screen. Another reason are the special effects, and also, believe it or not, some people go to see what is left out so they can knock on the movie.
