Why do people call good film as 'blockbuster'?!

Question:

Why do people call good film as 'blockbuster'?

Answers:

Wikipedia is wrong! There is NO question what the etymology for blockbuster is: "a term coined in the 1920s to denote a movie whose long line of customers could not be contained on a single city block"...HOWEVER if Wiki wants to argue, the first use of the word blockbuster, was in Medieval times, referring to a mercenary, normally wielding a massive hammer (like Thor), who literally busted cornerstones on castle walls, which caused not one, but two walls to collapse.

But this is movies, so the first answer stands. Obviously the WWII answer is later, and, as for the play...it would not have carried over from lines at plays, as the tickets were sold far in advance, thus, no line. AND, a sold out show would not bust the other plays...if the show is sold out to walk-ups, they are most likely going to go to another show nearby. So, there you go...Kes
