In book 5, Dumbledore makes the mistake in keeping Harry Potter in the dark about everything that was going on. That mistake leads Harry to fall into Voldemort's trap and hence getting Sirious killed.
Therefore, in book 6 Dumbledore wants to do things right by telling Harry Potter everything in advance. So basically the book 6 is a set of tons and tons and tons of information about why Voldemort is like he is, and why can't he die. Turns out that there are these artifacts (called Horcruxes) that Voldemort put a spell on before dying that will help him come back to life once he dies... naturally. For instance, one of these things was Tom's book in the Chamber of Secrets.
The turning point of book 6 is actually the ending. In order to make sure Voldemort does not know that Snape is part of Dumbledore's gang, Dumbledore himself allows Snape kill him, so Snape can go again and pretend to be Voldemort's friend. Naturally, everyone believes Snape is a traitor. Additionally, once Dumbledore dies, Hogwarts is considered no longer safe, hence they close it down. No more Hogwarts. Harry Potter, just weeks away of turning 18, is not going back to the Dursleys and decides to go and destroy all the horcruxes by himself. (Well, Ron and Hermione join in.)
Therefore, book #7 will be like a game of Zelda, where these guys will go everyone hunting the "treasures" in order to kill Voldemort and hence making sure he does not come back, for good.
