Who are your favorite and least favorite composers?!

Question:

Who are your favorite and least favorite composers?

My favorite composers are Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Klaus Bedalt, Howard Shore, Nicholas Hooper, and John Williams (actually, I have a love/hate relationship with this guy). My least favorite is Patrick Doyle (I hate how all his music comes to a crecendo at dramatic moments. Also, however sad the scene is, in Harry Potter 4 after Cedric dies and that violin music is playing I always have to laugh because I think of that one episode of Spongebob where Mr.Krabs says "Let me play you a sad song on the world's smallest violin". Ok, that was a run-on sentence.) What about you?

Oh, I guess I should have been more specific ms. I'm talking about movie composers.

Answers:

I don't know about "least favorite" composers, because even the "worst" composers have a good score or two in them. Example: Patrick Doyle's score for DEAD AGAIN was probably the best work he's ever done.

If I hate anything about some composers, it's when they "borrow" so much from other composers that two of them virtually sound alike. That's why I'm not too fond of Klaus Badelt - I know that Hans Zimmer is his mentor, but couldn't he work a little more on developing his own style?

I love John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith (R.I.P.), Miklos Rozsa, Bill Conti, Basil Poledouris (sp?), The Newmans (Alfred, Lionel and Randy), Ennio Morricone, John Barry, Michael Nyman and Les Baxter, just to name the ones off the top of my head. Charles Bernstein, Brad Fiedel and Christopher Young are all fantastic composers of the modern sci-fi/horror film genre. And of course I would never neglect Danny or Howard.
