A question regarding the new Harry Potter Movie.?!
Question:
A question regarding the new Harry Potter Movie.?
I have two daughters age 8 and 10 that I have watched all the previous Harry Potter movies with. We have watched them all at home. I was wondering if the new movie was about the same as far as violence goes? I would love to take them both to see it in the theater because it seems more like a treat for them.
Answers:
This movie pulled out the "mother" in me--and I am not a mother. This movie pulls on your emotions--if you have read the books then you will know about some of the child abuse/neglect done to Harry in this movie, like the quill writing on the hands, etc. But there is also a scene where most of the audience gasped because an adult slapped Harry on the face hard. He was also tied to a chair. These are the scenes that I found difficult to swallow and I wanted to rescue him.
Despite that, there are your typical Harry Potter "boss fights" between Voldemort and heroes and Death Eaters and heroes. But, in one scene a child gets punched in the face by an adult and she stands up with a bloody lip.
I am not bashing the film nor the violence in it: I think it was necessary to show, but as a potential parent, those are the things that I would want to know about. I think there are much more graphic things on TV. This movie was worth seeing and I will see it again in the theatre soon. It has been my favorite one.
