Do you prefer an element of realism to your films, or do you prefer the spectacular?

with the spectacle of the matrix, star wars and star trek films...I will only watch sequences...while I will watch stuff like Existenz and Primer all the way through. I dig substance in the movies. So I will watch Gladiator sequences but watch Spartacus all the way through....The Cave by sequence...but The Descent all the way through...Armageddon by sequence...but Deep Impact all the way through. These are A list movies. The rules change for B movies. I usually watch them all the way through. But I judge substance by my definition of the word...and nobody else's.
