Is 1408 a good movie? Is it really scary? What age at the lowest would you recommend for it?

I don't know about the movie - hopefully they haven't screwed up the story as they probably have - but I can tell you that the Stephen King short story "1408" from his book "Everything's Eventual" is one of the most frightening things I've ever read. It took me back to the days of being afraid to look out the windows at night after reading "Salem's Lot". If the movie's even half as good as the story, it'll be very scary and I wouldn't allow a kid any younger than a mature 13 to see it.
