In the Godfather, did anthony kill Don Corleone?!
Question:
In the Godfather, did anthony kill Don Corleone?
In the Godfather part I, during Brando's death scene, little Anthony is kind of holding the pesticide/fertilizer thing and looks like he sprays it. Do you think he sprayed Don Corleone with pesticide? If so, did he kill him?
Also, what's the symbolism of him dying in that type of setting? It just seems odd that he'd die there, you know?
Answers:
The symboism is that of all the guns he faced in his life, he died looking at one that was non-lethal (pesticide doens't kill that quick). He had been playing with his grandson and overstressed himself. I'd say he had a heart attack.
The other symbolism you ask about is that as violent as his life was he always rans it with a certain sense of honor. The message is that he was allowed a peaceful death.
