do u? do u?

Answers: yess, its lovely sometimes, especially when i've had a long and tiresome day. good luck. i hate it I like it a lot. if im working on a project or sumething imporant then no
but not then yes Sometimes, silence can be deafening. Of course I do, but in limitation. I prefer to listen to music most of the time, but some down time can't hurt, I suppose. Oh God, yes. My grandson and DIL live with me until my son comes home from Iraq. I have MS so sometimes the noise is killer. My sister also lives with me, and she is an alcoholic. Between the boy screaming and my drunk sister running her mouth, I pray for a nice quiet day. yes because i have a 11 year old at my house and he is sooooooooo annoying. so i go to school where there is silince from him If the 'noise' gets unbearable, then I could quite happily scream for some silence, yes! Sometimes. x ssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhh... Hard to remember what it sounds like...

Loud office, loud home (two year old), loud car. Even when I go out in nature, nature seems to be loud. I think I've experienced silence in a cave spelunking.

Some silence is good, it helps you focus. It helps you hear yourself, hear God. I've never experienced it, but too much silence would be lonely. I enjoy all the noisy and not-so-noisy things in this world, but I enjoy silence too. Find balance. Not many people have experienced pure silence.
There's usually a clock ticking or a vehicle in the distance or maybe just the wind.

However, I did experience it just once, back in 1974.
I was staying in a youth hostel by the Dead Sea in Israel. It was dark and I wanted to buy some cigarettes. Somebody told me there was a garage about 3 miles down the road, it was a warm evening, so I set off.

This is the lowest point on the entire planet's surface and sound is very different to what we are accustomed to as the air pressure is much higher than normal, a little bit like we feel just before a storm.
After walking just 10 minutes I stopped and could hear only one thing - the beating of my heart.

The Dead Sea really is dead - no birds or insects and there was no wind. There were no cars at that time of night. Goodness knows why the petrol station stayed open.

As I set off again I started to imagine all sorts of things - you swear you are being followed, so you stop and listen, but the only things you can hear are noises that you have made yourself. There are no street lights, there was no moon and although the sky was clear, I could see no stars. Just blackness and the faint light from my little torch that was beginning to run out.

I never did get my cigarettes - I turned round and went straight back. It's scary! Yes I do, especially in the evening when I am trying to catch a little rest. Ummmmm....... silence doesn't HAVE a sound! :O

~Cindy! :D yawn! I love it sssssshhhhh ;-)

In restless dreams I walked alone, Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night, and touched the sound of silence. shush
