*funny, sorry typo. They are predictable because people have similar fears. Therefore they need to be about one of those basic fears. Fear of the unknown is the biggest.

Second they like to use suspense to get the audience into the movie. The way you build suspense is giving the audience a little more info than the actor. this can appear to make it predictable. Like, 'Don't walk backwards you know he is there' it gets you on the edge of your seat and yes we all know the bad guy is there and is gunna get them.

Having sex is another one. Have sex and you will die. the guy dies during and the girl runs around with boobs hanging out for a little while then dies. it all good.

I like the zombie movies and Evil Dead II......CLAAAAASSSSICC!!

Evil Dead II was weird and kinda funny and kinda gross. All good things. Don't take the movie too serious and you will like it better. it was directed by the same guy who does spider-man today. but this is when he made movies out of garages. it was the first of its kind and was great. well because horror movies make no sense but u can change that try making 1 because so many movies are made each year, everything that can be thought of has either been done, or is illegal to do. yeah, and that is Almost everybody dies :) its the same plot because no body can think of anything else better. one scary movie i think is unpredictable is PULSE, its good and scary Because it's a "formula"...
Monster-bad-kills-dies-comes back-kids taunt-monster kills again-
OR
old lady dies-haunts-scares kids-
whatever...
To me the REALLY scary things are happening in real life everyday.... What I say is you've seen one scary movie you've seen them all. Jules said, "...you've seen one scary movie you've seen them all." That can ring true to any genre film. You asked about horror. It is a combination of the formula, bad scripts, poor subject and character development and so on. It is hard to be scared in this age when life is far more menacing. We see so much on You Tube, television, 300 HD channels, it's hard to be shocked as we could have years back. To be fair, you really should probably ask that question with respect to all movies in all genres, and not just single out horror. The quality of screenwriting continues to decline across the board.
. only the bad ones r predictable. the good ones r not
