How come movies in America with excessive violence can get R or even PG13 rating!

Question:

How come movies in America with excessive violence can get R or even PG13 rating, but excessive sex gets NC17?

Answers: Because everyone in the US is an uptight prude. Its ok to see someone cut off someones head, peal it and eat it, but show a couple boobs and you are a detriment to society. Censorship is a joke. Because sex is evil, and killing is good clean fun.

(Totally kidding) I've never seen any movie be labeled NC17. Can U name one? Why does one then have to be 18 to buy porn? Because of the mpaa. they censor sex and condone violence!? You should really watch the film called "This Film is not yet Rated" (if you haven't seen it already)-it covers this topic very well. Because the American culture is based on outdated ideas on morality. Dont' think that all Americans are like that though; there are 260+ million of us.

And before anyone cries foul, I'm an American by birth and residency. I think it's due to the guidelines for sex being quite clear and the violent ones being fuzzier. A few tiny cuts here and there can get a movie cleared in regards to violence, but whole scenes have to get chopped because of sex, directors are more likely to allow little cuts that don't effect the movie much, where larger cuts sometimes make them go for the NC-17 rating.
