Thank you!!! I would say horror is scary in a blood and guts way. Thriller is scary in a suspense way. In thrillers you have to try to figure out what's going on and in horror, you just watch. Blood and guts Horror is meant to scare you, Thriller is meant to keep you on the edge of your seat. I don't think that in todays culture there is a lot of difference. Horror would technically refer to something that is horrifying. Such as in the Saw movies. I would call that horror because of the blood and guts that crawls under your skin and horrifies you. That is a completely different sense than, lets say, Psycho or The Descent or something along those lines. I guess to put the cookies on the bottom shelf with what I'm trying to say, Horror is horrifying. Disgusting. It relies on visual elements in the movie to scare you.
A Thriller is for thrills. It should be more about the thought behind it. It works it up in your mind without showing you anything. Although a horror movie may have some thriller elements, and a Thriller may have some Horror elements, it is all about what is relied upon to convey the feel of the movie. Horror movies are scary while thrillers keep you on the edge of your seat(like an action) but are still kind of scary. Horror is usually scary and bloody. Thrillers can be bloody, but less so and usually not so scary but have intense or psychological drama. Psycho (the original) somewhat bloody (the famous shower scene) but more creepy and psychological than scary. Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, both bloody and scary. Really not much of a plot, just zombies eating people and popping up in weird places to scare the crap out of you. Nothing psychological. Thrillers are based on some riddle wich you can try to solve during projection of the movie and possibility to meet with some thriller in real life really exsist but horrors are maked just for amusement and possibility to meet with em in real life is minimal. I'm learn one parole about movies: "It could happend as it is presented in this movie, but it NEVER happens in real life!" Therefore I'm not watching movies (except comedies, because fun is the best medicine). Veradisca & Best Regards, Neven. Horror are things that cannot happen (zombie invasion, alien attack, giant mutant alligators)

Thriller could happen to you (stalkers, psychotic lover) Horror is when its like extremely scary where after it, you have horrible nightmares. and thriller, is when there are scenes that are so suspensful, that you are clinging onto the couch, and its a kind of jump at you thing.
