Hey Narrator...I've already read that review. Thanks anyway. I saw it today and have to say that I LOVED this movie. Jim Sturgess is a beautiful man whose voice will break your heart. I've seen some reviews where folks were upset that the original Beatle tracks weren't used. Those of us old enough to remember the group loved them and everything they did, but here's a way to introduce those songs to our kids with a fresh coat of paint on them. My daughter and I came home and dowloaded the soundtrack on Itunes and I she's been listening all night. I've been trying to get her hooked on the Beatles for 15 years, so if that says anything for the movie and the actors, it's that there is an appeal for young and old alike. It's a shame that it's showing in so few theaters--we had a hard time finding it in the Dallas area. I can't wait for the DVD...I have a feeling that I will wear this one out. Goo goo ga-joob! Pam, I hear you're so good looking that you look like a man.
I had a friend who saw it. Although he thought the visuals were stunning, the plot was rather thin and simplistic YES.
It was like the BESTT movie I've seen in my whole entire life. Go see it now! Pure emotion. No one can mix theater with film like Julie Taymor. From beginning to end the film takes you on a psychedelic beatle ride that grips you by the ears, the heart and the soul and never lets go. Even now. Hours after the projector was shut off. Every song adaptation interpretation and setting is spot on, fans of the Beatles will recognize that every detail in Taymor's images recall an instance, a photograph, a line or a quote from the band. Even the girl that comes in through the bathroom window. Nothing is left to chance, everything is on purpose. Amazing. Easily the best film of the year. And in regards to people saying it's a two hour music video.. well... yeah, what the heck were you expecting??? GO!
SEE IT NOW! Very good. Amazing acting, lovely singing voices, and I could tell everyone else in the audience enjoyed it as well. It's a must-see in theatres. Don't wait for it to come out on DVD. Just watch it now!
