What is/was the most successful movie company?
im guessing disney was.
Answers: I'd go with MGM on this one. It released classic movies like "The Wizard of oz" and it had the classic movie stars like Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland and etc. i think it was mgm or universal probably Universal, Paramount or MGM.... Some would say 20th century Fox.
But how do yourate success? New Line Cinema because they successfully produce the best CG animation for Lord Of The Ring, King Kong etc... Depends on how you define success. If you're talking strictly about revenue, then Disney is probably tops when you consider the ancillary revenue from toys, theme parks, licensing, etc.
Miramax is probably tops when it comes to accolades. Miramax films have been nominated for so many Academy Awards that it's mind blowing; a few years ago they had 40 nominations in one year.
If you're strictly talking about box office revenue, I don't know who would be the all time king, but the crown gets passed around from year to year. This year all the major studios have had good years, but it looks like Paramount or Sony/Columbia will come out on top. I guess its the movie company that makes Terminator 1/2/3 film. The whole world has watched it! Dreamworks, Pixar and 20th Century Fox are all very successful movie companies
