I remember a few details about it:
1. The main character is a boy who meets a mermaid. If I remember correctly, he is from the "real world" and is transported to this fantasy world.
2. There is one scene where the characters escape a closing stone door that is falling, and the mermaid's tail barely makes it out without being crushed.
3. There's a scene where the mermaid gets legs somehow and learns to walk.
4. I remember the boy fighting this stone giant and beating it, saying "The bigger they are, the harder they fall."
5. There's a scene where the characters drink a murky, black water that looks dangerous but is actually completely safe to drink.
6. This might be from a different movie, but I recall a black guy named Dumas and a girl named Gwen.
