She comes into the afterlife and he hands her the treasure chest and says "look after my heart" and then what? He goes off sailing by himself and the boat is far off in the sunset? Also where is Johnny Depp supposed to be going? To rescue the two in the afterlife? Wasn't that what they just did for him? Seems to be going in circles as a plot...please no sarcastic or crabby answers... Additional Details

It's not the afterlife...Will is the captain of the flying dutchman now so that means he is at sea for 10years and then gets one day on land so they were spending his one day on land as their honeymoon...he gave her the chest that contains his heart and told her to protect it while he's at sea...Jack isn't going to rescue them since they don't need to be rescued and the only way Will could stop being the captain of the flying dutchman is if someone stabs his heart and then he would be dead....anyway to answer your question Jack is going after the Fountain of Youth because he doesn't want to die again...and this also leaves it open for a fourth movie that just involves Captain Jack. Hope this helps!
Oh and by the way if you watch it again you should watch it all the way until the end of the credits because there is one more scene after all the credits that kind of explains things a little more. im not quite sure what happened right after

Kira's character stays in the "real world" where she raises her child (having been impregnated by Orlando) and they share one moment together every ten* years when the Flying Duchman is allowed to come to shore.

*my bad... got the number of years wrong on this one the first time out. lol it's "at world's end" elizabeth inst allowed on the flying duchman (which will is now the captian of) so will has to leave her he tells her to watch after his heart but then he has to go because its sunset. jhnny depp cut out the actual map part of barbosas map so all barbosa had was the outline of the map. the map is to find the fountian of youth. so thats where jack is going and if u watch after the credits it showed a little piece of the fourth one and it has elizabeth on the island where will had left with her and will's SON (its suppose to be 10 years later) and so sunrise comes and they see the flying dutchman in the horizon. and thats where it ends. Elizabeth is alive, not dead, during the "honeymoon". They don't need to be rescued - they each have a job to do in relative security.
Will, as the Captain of the Flying Dutchman, has to leave to ferry souls who died at sea to the other side. Elizabeth has to raise Will's son. The opening page of the Disney book "the Pirates' Code - Guidelines" has a letter addressed to "Jackie" from Gibbs, so I'm guessing they named the boy Jack.
Jack has stolen the map to the Fountain of Eternal Youth. His sailing off in the little boat is an echo of his introductory scene in the first Pirates movie.
Will and Elizabeth will not be returning to any new chapters. Orlando and Keira don't want to be pirates anymore and the producer and director (Bruckheimer/Verbinski) have said their stories are finished.
