The movie Godfather?!

Question:

The movie Godfather?

1.Tom Hagen plays an important role in Corleone family, even when Michael becomes really paranoid in the sequal, Tom is still loyal to him. What happens to him in Godfather III?
2. Do you believe Connie doesn't really know who killed Fredo? I thinks she knows, but since she needs Michael to support her finacilly, she pretends she doesn't know.
3. Why do you think Michael agrees to be Godfather to Connie's baby when he already made up his mind to kill Carlos?
4. This is no doubt one of the best movies ever made. I have wathched it several times and still love it. The transformation of Michael throughout the triology is intriguing. Please share your reasons why you like this movie.

Answers: 1. He died in the time period between parts II and II. Michael explains this in the 3rd movie.

2. She does know, but she has convinced herself for her own benefit and the for the rest of the family that he didnt. Connie realizes her place within the family and the necessary actions that must take place to keep the Corelone's in power. Also she begins to she a lot of Vito (their father) in Michael, thus she goes more attached to him as the films go on.

3. He realizes the importance and significance of being named godfather. It symbolizes his transistion into the head of that family, just like his father. I mean the movie is named The Godfather, so it kinda goies without saying that he would become a godfather. Michael knows it will be important for the child to grow up with a strong male figure in its life, especially since he knows that he will kill its father. The sense of family is extremely important, and no matter what its father did, the child is still part of that family.

4. I agree with you about Michael's transformation is amazing to watch. The acting, directing, writing, story, cinematography, editing, and music are all so amazing. My favorite is the first b/c it is such a more subtle film whereas the second, though still amazing, is just too convoluted. Although the flashback scenes of Vito's rise to power are astounding and their juxstaposition with the events of the Michael's era is extremely interesting and placed well against each other. I like it because it's a beautiful and the cruel story about Italian emigrants, their loyalty, family ties and their curse... I like also "Ones upon a time in America"... but without Pacino and De Niro story wount be powerfull as it is...
Great choice!!! The Tom HJ role is taken over by geo hamilton in GF III, a very poor choice, as was much of the casting which is too bad, considering the other two.

Connie has to know, it's not the money as much as sitting in the inner circle that appeals to her. She knows where the power is and she wants it. And uses it well--the poison candy is brilliant.

Michael`Carlos
He had no feud with the baby. the baby is a civilian, not a member of the crime family as Carlos is. Michael's mind is
set on protecting the family any way he knows how. Carlos is a traitor and a huge threat.

The movies justify the Corleone family as necessary to protect the interests of "their" people who get no protection from the cops. In fact, as we see in the main cops in I and II, the cops are corrupt and not worthy of trust. Politicians are evil and on the take, so the mob is justified, "bigger than general motors" as old Hyman reminds Michael. Even the church rewards the mob, a cardinal is seen at one of the wedding scenes. My brother was friends with kids of the mob in vegas, in the old days. The kids never saw any of that side of life. They went on to become normal citizens. They could tell you why it's all right to skim money at the Sahara. (this kid's parents owned 4 points in the casino, a huge capital
investment and payoff. We used to get into the shows free, free meals and rooms, and we didn't gamble. The people
running the casinos were gentlemen. they know how to please the clients. Knew how to get by in the city. Each movie in the trilogy has a kernal of truth( if not a bushel full), the scene where the mobsters get blasted from a helicopter
is pure Hollywood and would never happen. The mob could do it( they took out a road to get a prosecutor in Sicily a few years back) but wiping out the whole mob? I don't think so. Michael's wife is a ***** who can't accept his work but comes back to get cozy in III?
That's a little ludercrous; knowing how much she "hates" his whole choice of professions. Murder in the church? That is loosly based on actual financial corruption found by the new pope and what happens to him? Despite the few flaws, it is by far, the best book ever adapted to film.
