Why did the movie little children win Zero oscars???!

Question:

Why did the movie little children win Zero oscars???

the movie was nominated for three Oscars, and won none. Little Children dramatized tom perrotta’s brilliant novel about suburban entrapment and the possibility of escape. Was something lost in its transition to the screen? if so, why? were some of the sex scenes too hot and obscene of hollywood? i am very displeased.

Answers: It wasnt a typical Oscar-winning film. I agree with you that it was terrific, especially the acting and writing. I dont think anythign was lost in the traslation to the screen, it was just too small, too subtle, and too unheard of a film to win. I dont think that the sex scenes were too hot or obscene for Hollywood, I feel that they were perfectly fit into the film, but I highly doubt that had anything to do with its not winning of any Oscars. Many more sex filled movies or films with sex simmilar to Little Children have won numerous awards.
You have to look at the awards it was up for and who they were up against:
The best chance for a win was for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay. It lost to The Departed, which was awesome and the Oscar big winner, but I do feel that Little Children probably should have won over it anyway. I also think that Children of Men had a good chance and might have should have won.
The next best chance was the wonderful Kate Winslet for Best Actress, but unfortunately she had no chance against Helen Mirren in The Queen, who was absolutely amazing.
The other nomination came for Jackie Earl Haley for Best Supporting Actor, but he really had no chance and should have been just happy and honored with a nomination. All four others nominated actors would have gotten it over him.

So I do greatly agree with that Little Children was highly and unfairly overlooked by not only audiences but awards as well. As for the awards themselves, I felt the only one that they had a real gripe with was for Best Adapted Screenplay. Great film though no doubt and no matter what awards they won (or didnt win). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tubdwtt9n... cuz day thought it was horible because it was not good enough, its called common sense Cos it was Shite! Look at the acting? Lighting
-laughable, Sets? You never know with Hollywood and the Oscar's committee people. They pick the worst movies to award trophy's to and the worst actors performances to win. For example; Halle Berry in Monsters Ball. That movie had the longest worst love scene of a black woman degrading herself with a white man who objectified her and kept secrets from her that were pertinent to her life. It was demeaning and Halle won an Oscar for it. Denzel Washington, in Training Day. It depicted a black man at his worst, representing characteristics that were abhorrent for anyone, and while Denzel has represented much better in better films, the Oscar went to him for that instead of something with substance and meaning. It seems if the movie has depth and represents something positive, the Oscar committee doesn't want it promoted or honored in anyway, particularly when it comes to black people. Unless the actor who is black is demeaning him or her self, the Oscar's folk don't want to know about it. There is no way to tell.

The Turning Point was nominated for 11 Oscars, in all four acting categories, director, picture and screenplay and walked away with....NONE
