Peter Hook. Ian Curtis. Joy Divison. CONTROL?!

Question:

Peter Hook. Ian Curtis. Joy Divison. CONTROL?

Just saw CONTROL. Very moving film. My question is though, Hooky was portrayed as being quite ignorant and a little "daft."; is he like this in real life? I'd like to think that along with Deborah Curtis book, the film was relatively true to events, although I always think that there are two sides to every story, but there was little doubt that marriageat 16/17 was far too young. It was also sadening thinking about the amount od drugs that Curtis had to take, my family has a history of epilepsy, and I can factually say that although the drugs helped stabilize the seizures, they made people profoundly depressed and turned passive and gentle people into quite aggressive and potentially violent people, along, of course, with the disruption that the drugs cause in the brain. I thought it was an ok film though, be interesting to hear others comments.....

Answers: Saw it yesterday - very good film
One thing that was always mentioned in interviews was that Joy Division were really a fun band! They played practical jokes on each other and other bands. They were also very young - a group of lads having fun.
I watched the film with a friend who had recently done a course on epillepsy for work so that added a little more insight.
Recent interviews I've seen with Hooky states that he thinks about Ian every day - the scene at the end of the film with Hooky Barney Stephen & Gillian sitting in silence & disbelief was really touching
From what I've read previously it did seem to follow the real events - as much as anyone will every know - apart from a couple of things. Obviously in Deborah Curtis's book there is little about Anik so was pleased they did a compasionate job with her character
RIP Ian, Martin, Rob And Anthony
