Should I see the movie "Last House on the Left"?!

Question: I am a HUGE horror movie fan. Ever since I saw "Nightmare on Elm Street" I've also been a huge Wes Craven fan.

After watching a doco. called "Going to Pieces" about slasher movies I am thinking of seeing "Last House on the Left".

Now I have heard how it was banned and other stories like how it had an X rating so I am thinking maybe I don't want to see it. My husband & I were some what shocked seeing "Hostel" even though my sister in law warned me a bit. lol

Also I was sexually abused as a child & then again for months by a so called boy friend. So I can be very sensitive to movies with rape in them. I can handle them but I know of like to know how much I'll be exposed to.

So as a hard core horror movie fan & my devotion to Wes Craven I'd love to see this movie, but a little concerned. What do you guys think? If I do see it I want to see the full one not the "cut" movie. I want to see it as Wes Craven meant it to be.

I would have to cast my vote with those warning you against it. I'm a horror movie fan myself, and even I was disturbed by the very visceral scenes of rape, torture, and murder. I saw a "making of" featurette about the movie, and even the actors who shot one key scene said it was almost too much for THEM to handle (apparently, right after the scene was finished, a particular actor went and threw up, and they had to close shooting for that day because everyone had had too much). With your background, stay away.

Peace!

p.s. I've listed a link to a forum where people were commenting on emotionally disturbing films.
it was good but i will not give anything away.
no.
please don't.
i had a childhood similar to yours.
and the images i saw in that movie terrified me.
i'm begging you, pleading you, don't watch it.
and it's not a good film either.
thanks.

Actually it is very disturbing but it did receive the rating back in the day when a movie like Hostel couldn't even be shown. What you actually see is kind of tame but realistic. There are some unpleasant individuals in it for sure.
If you have had traumatic experiences associated with rape, Last House On The Left is best left avoided, the movie thrives on images of girls being raped and murdered, you have been warned! It makes movies like Hostel seem like child's play
Well Faith4Jesus, I think that as a Christian women none of these movies can be good for you to see, or for you children to know about. I know these things can be hard to let go up, but its for your better being. Also these types of movies can bring out a hurtful past. Try praying about this alot, Jesus knows what is best for you, so go to Him for advice.
Good luck and God Bless!
