Question about Highlander...?!
Question: I'm a little confused. the whol epremise of the first movie was that 'there can be only one'. Conor McCloud does a pretty efficient job in dispatching all the other immortals, and therefore is 'The One'. How, then, did they manage to eke out three more films and a TV series?
The original is one of my favourite ever movies, by the way, but I don't see the point of the rest of them.

There can never be one as in the series there are still
immortals being born in the end its a bit cheesy
because it says that all the bad immortals are demons
and the good immortals are Angels doing Gods handy work.
I love the series and the films apart from the fourth one where
Duncan McClound kills Connor McCloud.
Also the second one was really really bad
Money, isn't that what the point of remakes are.
Firstly - It was never said that he was 'the one' at the end of the film.
He dispatched a few guys, but that was not to say that there weren't more.
The first film was popular, and they always leave a gap for the opportunity to make more if they think they will make money. The problem like many film trilogies is that they do get weaker and weaker. In the end Monsieur Lambert was a bit too old.

people liked the movie so much they started making more for the fans. the one with the shield protecting the earth while the ozone failed shows Connor becoming immortal again because new people from his homeworld show up. the rest i don't understand, i just enjoy.
jk the movie did say he was the one. at the end he talks about being mortal now, he can have kids with her, grow old. see it again you'll see.

Its one of my favorite movies too and I have to pretend that all the things that came after don't exist and I refuse to acknowledge them at all.
Why mess with perfection?
The reason that they say "there can be only one" is in reference to the film itself which the makers decided to throw in to say if there are any sequels their going to be crap and there can be only one decent film and this is it. The makers of the sequels and the tv show were just too stupid to realise and the american producers lapped it up for the money.
I guess they didn't expect it to do well enough to spawn a sequel. I think one of the most entertaining things about the franchise is the way they keep over-looking what happened in the previous films with out any explanation. Lets be glad they don't try to explain it either, last time they tried we got Highlander 2.
