Why are Film Noir films not made anymore? I loved them!?!

Question: Film noir pertains to a feeling and style germane to
the forties and early fifties in which films were shot in black and white and had a distinct element of mystery and usually dealt with the underbelly of life. Recently films like Chinatown and L.A. Confidential have had this quality, It takes someone with much talent in filmmaking to recreate successfully this style.

because big production companies don't have imagination anymore. That's why they have so many remakes now. Plus who could ever take the places of the greats like Humphrey Bogart and Ingid Bergman? I love them too...
Unfortunately, wide screen, color and special effects are what sell tickets in today's world. I'm like you. I miss all those wonderful black & white melodramas of the 30's and 40's.
The big companies just keep putting out the same old rubbish - but I guess that's what sells.

These movies on DVD have been described as Noir-ish. They're both teen mysteries. I wouldn't say they're the best movies I've ever seen, but they both have a decent amount of suspense in them.
