What is it like for for actors who play the bad guys?!

Question: My question is what happens after the movie releases, what happens to the actor who plays the bad guy. For example, Tom Felton. He played/plays "Draco Malfoy", a hated character in the "Harry Potter" series. Is he hated just because he was the bad guy.

If your performance as a villain is tremendously good and memorable, you get a lot of positive attention from fans. Think of Anthony Hopkins, who played Hannibal Lector. He, like Tom Felton, is very popular. Bela Lugosi, who originated the part of Dracula in the original 1930 version, got thousands of letters from adoring fans. The silent movie actor Eric Von Stroheim, who made a career out of playing despicable villains, was even billed as "The Man You Love to Hate".
Actors love playing nasties onscreen. Often, they're remembered with fondness when the heroes are forgotten.
i hated sarah silverman because she was such an *** to jack black in School of Rock
I imagine it's a helpful way for them to identify stupid people who can't differentiate reality from fiction.
idk... I think people admire them for actually not being mean in real life and playing that character. That is a good question though...
Draco isn't really a hated guy to me, him and Tom Riddle are some of my faves. He does do a good job of playing a bad guy! that's what makes people hate him.
