Scary movie 1 2 and 3
The Sixth Sense is a really good movie. And it's scary.
go to columbiahouse.com and browse their horror section.
The shining
there are no good scary movies with that kind of rating
the acariest movies ever are the following:

1) Carrie 2) It 3) Halloween 1 4) The Exorcist 5) Nightmare on Elm Street 1 6) Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 (original)
scream, the eye, the curse, the messengers, white noise, perfect stranger, number 23, gothica
The scariest thing I've seen on video is the last state of the union address.
Rawhead Rex, Silent Rage, The Howling, Ginger Snaps
The Fog
watch the exorcist
No library would be complete without an assortment of dumb movies.
The Toxic Avenger
Plan 9 from outer Space
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
are my favorites
www.IMDP.com awsome site . you can look up movies by catigory or actor anyway you please!
the shining, grudge 1 and 2, room 1408, vacancy, the messengers, it
.the grudge
.saw 1,2,3
.it the clown (not that scary to me)

just go to the horror section of blockbuster and look for more 'scary' films
The Ring I and II, Saw 1 and 2, Halloween series, Nightmare On Elm Street (dated, but fun and scary at the same time).
Pee in your pants variety is:

The Sixth Sense
A Nightmare on Elm Street (original ONLY)
Friday the 13th (same as above)
The Grudge
Dawn of The Dead
Aliens (1986)
The Thing(1982)
and a little known Indie film called "Salvage"

I can list more but I would be up all night.
Saw 1, 2, 3, The Hills Have Eyes, Psycho, The Leperchaun, The Ring, Silence of the Lambs. Okay, I'm not sure of the ratings but this is what I could think of!
Fail-Safe, 1964
I personally have a strong gut but if you want a list of some good scary movies, here are some that I think you may be interested in:

Dead silence (REALLY GOOD)
The Exorsist
It
The Birds
Silent Hill
House of Wax
I Know What You Did Last Summer;
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer;
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.
They came out in 1997, 1998, and 2006. Definitely good horror/thriller movies.
The Devil's Rejects

The Exorcist

The Omen

The Grudge 1&2

House of 1000 Corpses

Black X-mas

The Exorcisim of Emily Rose

House of Wax

All the Halloween movies (With the Micheal Myers guy)

Texas Chainsaw Massecere

Nightmare on Elm Street (Any of them)

Freddy vs. Jason

Saw I, II, & III
The scariest movie I've ever seen is "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". I went to a Catholic school for 9 years, and my religion teachers told me that the movie was true. I know it was based on a real story, but she said that it wasn't fake, and something like that could happen. That totally scared the crap out of me!
That's a broad subject. What kind? Zombie? Vampire? Ghost? Serial Killer? Shocker?

I go by themes, like all the Halloweens, Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Streets. Or all Asian like Audition, Ju On, Tale of Two Sisters, One Missed Call. Or go with all Stephen King: The Shining, The Stand, Misery, Tommyknockers, etc... Or go Comedy: Shaun of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead ...

All time creepy awesome: The Exorcist, 28 Days Later, The Shining, Audition, The Devil's Backbone, Psycho.
CASPER the movie
Hocus Pocus
Gremlins but it could be a bit intense for the youngsters
The Wizard of Oz
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Some old Abbot and Costello Movies and some 3 stooges movies were funny also.
Any Munster Movies
The Addams Family

Oh and lest I forget any of the Harry Potter movies.

Those are some tame and not too scary movies I think is ideal for kids.
Alien vs. Preadtor was a good one and there is one called The Cave
Eraserhead will **** you up.
