"Zippity Do Dah" was written by Joel Chandler Harris, who wrote the Uncle Remus stories. It won the Oscar for Best Song of the Year at the Academy Awards. I've been trying to pin down the composer of the melody.
The film, which combines live action and animation, has become regarded as racist and has been in and out of favor. At one point, they were considering withdrawing it from sales. I did see "DVD" with it, so it seems that they changed their minds.

The Zippity Doo Dah song is from Disney's "Song Of The South". The main characters are Uncle Remus and some children who listen to Remus' tales of B'rer Rabbit and B'rer Fox. The movie and DVD's have been banned by the NAACP as being racist.
