Do you consider a DVD purchase for the title or extra features?!

Question: Do you consider a DVD purchase for the title or what extra features it may have on the DVD? I often wait the few months after a movie comes out on DVD to purchase it so I can get the special edition DVD. I like the directors commentary on how they made it. But I noticed also that some DVDs are being offered either in the standard edition and the special edition at the same time.

My main priority is that the film is correctly formatted (ie in widescreen if it's supposed to be, and with the proper ratio) and has a half-decent image. With most of the movies I like, you're just pleased it gets a release at all, never mind the extras.

The artwork can be a big influence on me. If it's a really nicely designed cover with some decent artwork (eg original poster art), I'll get really excited about it.

As far as extras go, it's always nice to go for the version with extras if there's not much of a price difference, but if it's not something I care much about, I can do without. And it depends what the extras are. Sometimes they're just tacky. Commentaries are my favourite extra, and the most likely to sway me in favour of buying a special ed.

I usually just look at the pic. and title, and if it looks good, then I read the back...then if it's good, then buy it

I usually don't care about the special features as much. However, if I wanted to buy a movie that I really really loved so much that I was obsessed about it, then sure, I'd buy a special edition DVD not those crappy $9.99 ones that you guy at a market.. :P

if its something i want to see i just get it the only thing i really care about is if it's widescreen or fullscreen.

yes i prefer DVD becouse of extra features and also for good quality

The title. I rarely if ever watch the extra features unless I'm really bored and have nothing else to do. If they have like games I'll do those though. But if there was a version with features and a version without, and they were the same price, I'd buy the one with the features.

oh i love watching the director commentary and all the special features. i am a HUGE movie buff!

but, of course first and first most it is the TITLE. If i don't like the title and the movie itself then of course i am not going to be interested in those special features
