I think the current generation of film fans don't know who Jerry Lewis is and have become accustomed to the huge Hollywood blockbusters we have screening everywhere. I would like to see some old films again on free to air TV or pay-tv..Jerry Lewis is one of my favourite slapstick comedians and I like his movies where he teamed up with crooner Dean Martin.

I think Jerry Lewis is still working, but mostly behind the scenes as a producer/writer/director. He is in semi-retirement, but he is still very mentally alert and funny at aged 81.

Are you French?????????????

because he sucks?

Jerry Lewis is not a spring chicken anymore. He does still do live performances. If you enjoy his movies they out on DVD. I have several myself.

are you kidding me? jerry lewis is way out of the entertainment business....any movie theater that put one of his movie up would surely lose money. you can find his movies on cable TV now...if they aren't there, then thereisn't a demand for them, sorry

He ran into problems in the 70s, aggraviated by a percodan addiction.

Also, his movies were tanking and his last real project, "The day the Clown Cried", blew up in his face.

He did a couple of films in the 80s, but they tanked, so he moved to broadway

Last season, he guest-starred in an episode of Law and Order: SVU. He played Det. Munch's uncle. I saw a rerun of that episode only a few nights ago on USA. Plus, he has that telethon every year.

Some people should retire, and Lewis is a classic example of that. Not everyone shares your enthusiasm for Lewis. To many, he was obnoxious and non-entertaining.

In all fairness to the young Jerry Lewis, he was one of a kind when it came to slap stick comedy. His demise came with the break up with Dean Martin, his old partner. Surprisingly to most, Lewis went downhill after that, whereas Dean Martin's career flourished.

His movies are on TV once in a while. Recently he did a guest shot of Law And Order, Special Victims. He has been in several made for TV movies. Once in a while he is a guest on a talk show and he still does the Telethon.

Because he is no longer young enough for that hassle anyways. I believe that his type of comedy unfortunately has died off.

Prematurely retirement no J/L is kinda oldish, he mus be( if he hasn't died) at 80, because Dean Martin is being dead for a good many years and I don't know if he still runs that marathon for kids or cancer(can't remember) also I've been out of the USA for at least 6yrs., so I am in the shadows as you are with reference to him

I think only France still considers him a matinee idol (barely!)... But I agree... With all the new movies that they have now and the "Boomer" generation no longer "supporting" the older films, those oldies are now falling out of favor to Generation "X"er's tastes... My folks are Boomers and for me, Breakfast Club, Fast Times, and Ferris Bueller are my "classics"...

Just imagine, there have been tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) movies made since Mr. Lewis' last film...!!! Wow... Oh, I still think he tries to make some type of showing on the MDA Telethons...

Jerry Lewis' last appearance in a TV drama was last year on the "Law and Order" episode, "Uncle Andrew Munch." I believe his last movie credit was in 1995 in "Funny Bones."

Lewis' voice at least will return to the theaters soon in "The Nutty Professor 2." The movie is currently in post-production.

Like Chevy Chase, the slapstick physical comedy is just too hard on an actor once they reach a certain age. That's why you dont see him making movies falling down anymore.

Most movies are made for the 17-30 age group, they are the ones who go the most. Older people that remember Jerry Lewis stay at home and watch tv.
