Deborah Kerr: Hollywood Star?!

Question: I loved her in the King and I! It's one of my all time favorite movies! How sad that she's passed on. What are some of your favorites? Isn't is just sad when old actors and actresses pass away? These are the TRUE stars of hollywood! Much unlike the Lindseys Lohan's of the world today! Any thoughts about Hollywood of Before.. and Now?

Absolutely a star. Loved her in "Heaven Knows, Mr Allison" with Robert Mitchum.
The difference was the end of the studio system, when stars were signed to specific studios in long-term contracts. You always knew what you were going to get when you saw a movie from a particular studio. Also, the only hype came straight from the press agents. Now info is instantaneous with internet and 24-hour cable. And much harder to cover up a star's indisgressions.

My favorite of hers is "An Affair to Remember"
I love Deborah Kerr. She was a great actress. I think back in the day the actresses were more serious about their roles. I loved the King & I as well.

You have to watch movies by Charles Chaplin, to understand movie history. But for sheer enjoyment, watch Mr. Deeds Goes to Town(1936), starring Gary Cooper.

She was beautiful.A true screen goddess.
