War of the worlds(2005)?!

Question: I liked war of the worlds the action and stuff was good but the main reason i liked it is because it took a normal family with normal problems and showed their fight for survival in such an event but there is one thing they could have done differently ok when ray and robbie were at the top of the hill and robbie stayed up there and then everythng exploded i though robbie was dead 4sure but at the end of the movie u learn that he survived the explosion and made to boston on his own so i think they should have split the story up at the point of the explosian i really wish they would have showed robbies story after the explosian and how he made it to boston and what he faced on his way there plus my dad says robbie reminds him of me but still does neway agree that they should have showed robbies story after the explosion?

Yes, the original is good in its own way, even though Ann Robinson is absolutely dreadful in the role~which she has admitted. But, give the remake a chance because we finally saw Martian war machines nearer to the way they're described in the novel.

I think that the remake captured more of the horror and devastation of the invasion. One powerful scene is when the three are watching from the woods, and the crowds of people are dwarfed by the massive machines coming over the ridge and beginning to sweep the rays through, as we might do if we were eradicating insects. It truly made mankind look weak and ineffectual, far more clearly than in the original when they threw the military at them but didn't show much interaction between human beings and the machines. Of course, special effects were limited then, so this can be excused.

I feel that it would have been too difficult, splitting our attention between Robbie and the others. Also, it was more powerful when we believed that Robbie had been killed. Shortly after, the father is forced to commit murder to protect his only surviving child~as far as he knows. I think that added more power, keeping it with father and daughter. Then, the end is a wonderful surprise: Not all of the cities have been devastated, and others~including Robbie~have survived.

Did you notice that the grandparents were played by Gene Barry and Ann Robinson of the original "War of the Worlds"? I thought that was really a sweet touch.

the oringinal is better

That's an interesting idea. But, I guess they wanted to show Cruise and the little girl in a state of just not knowing, and having the audience experience what that was like as well.

I think YOU should make it and post it on the net!

There wasn't time in the movie for both character's points of view. Also, you might wanna use punctuation and capitalization properly to make your questions much, much easier to read.
