Dvd's to computer?!

Question: how can i get dvd's i already own downloaded to my computer?
i have the program dvd2pod but its not really working.
is there any easy way to get dvd's i already own downloaded to my computer like just puting it in the disk drive and uploading it from there or something? can any one help?
