It is a COMPLETELY different movie.. but I love them both.. (although.. I watched Shock Treatment about 5 times to get to the point where I actually liked it.. because I was comparing it to RHPS, when there is no comparison) I have both on DVD, RHPS is still my favorite, but there are times when all I want to do is watch Shock Treatment..
Oh, and despite the differences.. ST is STILL very much a Richard O'brien film.. no doubt about it..
It's interesting, I'm not the fanatic about it many are. They dress in the costumes & show up at theaters night after night, know all the lyrics, etc. But I did enjoy it, ya ought to see it once at least & see for yourself.
It's eccentric like Rocky, but very different. Whereas Rocky is set in some sort of reality (albeit one with alien sex hounds that break into song), Shock Treatment is not. It's more of a put down on the whole TV Nation mentality, in which the town of Denton is not a town at all, but a reality show. The music is great, the story is strange, and the acting is, well, it's not any worse than the acting in Rocky Horror.
I personally love both films, but Shock is definitely the weirder of the two.
I like RHPS better but Shock Treatment is worth watching. Its a bit different (i would almost say crazier) than RHPS and the cast was better in RHPS too but you'll be singing along and enjoying it in no time.
