Why does it seem like the Japanese are the masters of the horror genre?!
Question: I've watched several Japanese horror flicks- their versions of the Ring and the Grudge, Audition. I'm always left asking myself what the heck is going on over there to have them make such intense, creepy movies. Those movies scared me really badly, and it takes a lot to freak me out. Why do you think this is? (that they seem to be so great with this genre?)

To be honest, i dont like Japs horror movie. They're too boring. i prefer Thailand horror movie and some hong kong movies.

Because you've never seen a Korean horror movie.....
It suits your preference of horror. I personally find their horror movies to have good ideas, but they are carried out in a cartoonish/comical fashion that negates any possibility of freaking me out.
Maybe it's their folklore...But, I agree with you. ~~~~Arcadia was a really great flick....
On my opinion, they have good creativity and originality. It is known that Japanese are hardworking and dedicated to their job. It amaze me how they can make a really scary movie without nudity, sex.
Most American horror movies are all the same and common lets be honest, when did we watch a horror movie without showing a breast.
Because they make great,original,creepy movies AND then Hollywood ruins them by remaking them...VERY BADLY!!!
Because they're different. You're so used to watching all the American junk that when you watch a Japanese or Korean horror flick it's completely different, freaky and off the wall. In other words it's original. Nowadays there are two types of American horror flicks, recycled and remade. Don't get me wrong, there are still some good ones out there to watch even if they are recycled or remade. I'm Mexican-American and I've seen some Mexican horror flicks that were pretty damn freaky... no special effects or anything like that. Just stright horror from disturbed Mexican directors' minds. Same goes for those Japanese and Korean flicks. It's the originality of the films.
