Is anyone else surprised by Walmart not selling you rated R films unless you hav!

Question: my 22 year old girlfriend tried to buy a horror film and they refused to sell it to her because she didnt have her ID on her.. it was rated R.

Has this happened to any of you?

Thats nothing, I left the house with just a $20 bill to pick up Pet Sematary this morning, and the cashier refused to sell it to me, and Im 27 years old.

Last week, I bought two friday the 13th films, both rated R and didnt need my card. Could be because, Oh I dont know, I DONT LOOK UNDER 18!? ;)

I understand the point, BUT what pissed me off is that, I havent been underage in 10 years. It was the last one
on the shelf, and Im sure if I went back, it would be gone. Its that time of year were everyone is buying horror flicks, you know?

Yeah, Im not happy and Im going down to target tomorrow. WITH my ID just incase, even though I shouldnt have to.

EDIT-

I agree Miss Willis, it is silly to think that IDing people for a movie is going to stop the determined. Hell, half the parents couldnt care less what their children are watching anyway. Its not like rated R is p____.

No, retail stores face heavy fines if caught selling explicit CDs or R rated of higher movies to children. Common rule in stores is to card anyone who looks under 25 or so.

Thanks Navigator, they must not like the fact that it is true. I don't work for walmart but I did work for Circuit City for about ten years.

Edit:

You guys are right IDing won't prevent children from seeing them, but tell that to the republican party who loves to harp on decency laws and sh*t like that.

LOL like their policy is realy going to make a difference. Kids are 10x worse today then they were when I was young. If they want something, you better believe they will find a way to get it.

Yes walmart, card people on your MOVIES, that will show those pesky kids!! lmao

I can see how that would be annoying for her. But thatnk you for the warning, I didnt know that. I'll just make sure my mom picks up my dvd's if I want something rated R.

No, but it doesn't surprise me. Wal-Mart is covering their behind rather than take the risk of accidentally selling an R-rated CD to someone who's underage, which could get them in trouble with local laws and/or get them sued by upset parents.

Mayor West is correct, even though there seem to be at least three people who didn't particularly like what he had to say. :-)
