I agree. If you want to see something original, you have to rely on independent or foreign movies, and many of them are boring or pretentious.

I actually think movies are getting darker and more realistic. Check out "Children of Men," or "28 Weeks Later." Post 9/11 movies are just more realistic about destruction. Look at movies beore then, like "Air Force One." Very mild and cozy. Now movies rock the whole theater. Report It

Unfortunately, the movie industry is obsessed with blockbusters most of which are aimed at teenagers. Hence the lack of originality and poor scriptwriting.

some modern movies are as good as as any film that have been made... cant be bothered to list them!

yes the movie industry has lost its touch

Yes, quality is going downhill fast. Take the movies: Saw, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Hostel, the Hitcher- all movies aim at torture, violence, murder. It's discpicable. There are very few good romance, family, or clean comedy movies anymore. It is all so corrupted by language, sex and violence. Unfortuantely, it sells. And as long as it does, that's what we are going to get.

    I disagree.

There are still some wonderful films made today. In the past couple of months I've seen The Bourn Ultimatium, Rattatouille and Stardust. And in years gone by, you're forgetting a LOT of horrible films.

(Though, this year has been worse than most).

The one trend I think is sad is the recent focus by big names on money losing vanity films. "Lions for Lambs" is going to fail horribly - but how can a studio say no to Redford, Cruise and Streep? It's like "Lady in the Water" - a horrid mess of a film that got made only because 3 films earlier M. Night had a sleeper hit.

Yeah, I agree with Ashley especially. Films are all about violence, sex, and bad language. Even family movies are bad sometimes! It's ridiculous! Movies are getting corny, bad, and just plain boring. People should start being more original, stop making dumb remakes, and stop making stupid 2nd and 3rd movies. Some sequals are good, like ToyStory, but most are made just to make another one, not because they actually have a good idea. Thats my thoughts on movies, although there are VERY good movies out there, and I love movies a lot, but it's getting to be that you have to be a treasure hunter to find them. I can't go without mentioning The Chronicles of Narnia, it ROCKS! I like movies of books, they are cool....if you do them right.

    Agreed
