favorite truly scary movie is the austrian "funny games," which literally brings me to tears in fear. but it's not from the 70s.

From the 70's I liked Halloween a lot,
but my favirote from the 70's is Carrie. It was easy to see where her charcter came from and why she did what she did..
"Night of the Triffids"
It's the first movie I can remember as a child that really SCARED me. I saw it on one of those campy, scary matinee shows that ran on Saturday's at Midnight. Mom and Dad watched it in the darkened living room of a house we had just moved in to. To make matters worse, there was a thunder storm outside!
"Creature of the Black Lagoon" Scared me too, as did "Them!"
I saw "Race with the Devil" at the drive-in. The people in the next car gave me the creeps as bad as the movie!
The flying monkeys in the "Wizard of Oz" gave me the creeps too!
They all seem so campy now!

Well mine would have to be the First Phantasm movie was called The Never Dead here in NZ (with the Tall Man) saw it at the movies with my aunty I must of been all of 8 at the time scared the crap outta me - The tall man, the scary dawarf things, digging up dead people and more man freaky movie + Halloween & Friday the 13th.
i am not much for horror movies but salem's lot 1979 was so well made i even bought, i mean vampire children at the windows..freaky
