What comedy movies everyone should watch at least once?!
Question: I highly suggest both Bill and Ted movies; Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey... because I'm a big Bill and Ted fan!
I love the Bill and Ted movies so much! I practically love reciting every line in the movies, because they're so darn funny!
Plus who else can't love Bill and Ted?
Or even one of the historical figures, like So-crates?! ;)
Or the Grim Reaper and the Station martians! ;)
Anyone who can name a good comedy movie, or movies; and state the reasons why you love those movies gets 10 points!

The Big Lebowski: They even have a festival for the movie. Jeff Bridge's character, an unlikely hero, resulting in a most humorous film. "I'm the dude...man..." He pays for a carton of milk with a check book and only has a Ralph's card as his ID

Wayne's World: Only if you are a music junky who was old enough to hear music in the 90's and late 80's. "Shea and monkey's might fly out of my butt."
Spinal Tap: The original mocumentary. "It's like none black..."
Caddy Shack: The "doodie" in the pool. Bill Murray as a grounds keeper! Chevy Chase, NUnnna Nuuun Nunn Nunna!
Robin Hood Men in Tights: "My name is Achu! Son of a Asneeze!" (also Mel Brooks)
Billy Madison: The original Adam Sandler Movie which spawned Happy Gilmore another great movie. Those are Sandler's two classics. " What are you looking at swan?!"
Anything Mel Brooks ever laughed at would be a good comedy, anything Mel Brooks created even.

Trading Spaces: Eddie Murphy! I will bet you one dollar that this is an amazingly funny movie.
Coming to America: Also Amazing. Eddie Murphy
Ferris Beular's Day Off: Instant classic, and my favorite growing up. "Cameron is wound so tight that if you stuck a lump of coal up his butt you'de get a diamond."
A Fish Called Wanda, and Fierce Creatures: John Cleace (sp?) an amazing comedian...A genius, Kevin Clein as well.
All things Monty Python related.
Black Sheep, and Tommy Boy: The wonderful duo of David Spade and the late great Chris Farley..."Fat Guy in a Little Coat!"
Dumb and Dumber: "We're going to a little town called aaaaaassspen! Where the beer flows like wine... I dunno Lloyd the French are assholes"
Grandma's Boy: Dirty, but oh so funny....Like the karate monkey, and the head video game designer with the robot voice.
Wet Hot American Summer: It puts meatballs to shame, it is the great American Camp comedy.
Out Cold: perfect Mountain/Snowboard comedy.
Austen Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me: Very original when it came on to the scene. "Everyone's after me lucky charms."
Dark Humor:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: "Lets get down to brass tacks...How much for the ape?
The Original: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, anything Gene wilder ever acted in...
The Royal Tenanbaums: There are far too many reasons to count. One of those great movies you have to watch, it's all in the acting.
I Heart Huckabees: "We're not in infinity, we're in the suburbs!," "He's planting trash!...Kaftka...hmmmmm."
Igby Goes Down: Smart, and off beat. Another movie that is all in the acting. Not necessarily a comedy but that is why it is listed as "dark comedy" for me.
Dogma: So long as you are not deeply religious or tied to organized religion. This is a great way to get people to lighten up in a funny sort of way. "we sincerely apologize to the noble platipai."
Drop Dead Gorgeous: Offbeat, before there was such thing. Kirsten Dunst before she was really really big. Rural beauty pageants and the "intense" competition. Just amazing, a must see. very dark and very funny.

For anyone who has ever worked in an office, you MUST watch Office Space at least once....
For those who have not, Airplane (the original) is still good for a belly laugh or three...

definately dumb and dumber. its a classic and jim carrey is a comedic genius. one of the foundations for comedy movies. I love that movie because as i can remember it is the first movie that genuinly made me laugh out loud.

Any silent movies of Harold Lloyd, especially if you can see it in a theater with live accompaniment (which is often n Palo alto California if you ever get there!)
You will see where much of the foundation for comedy films to this day originated and you will laugh hard.
I like the movie dudley do right. It is one heck of a comedy. Brenden Fraser is absolutely funny in that movie. When i saw that movie I could not stop laughing.

The best comedy movie is Run Ronnie Run. It is the best movie you never heard of. The lead character is played by David Cross, and he gives gives an excellent performance. I laughed so much. I have seen it over 50 times because i had to make other people watch it. There are a lot of cameos in it too. You can see matt stone and trey parker, jack black, that guy who plays trucker from trucker and t-bonez, a few people from upright citizens brigade, there are a lot more i can't remember. It is a must see. You should just buy it so you can show all of your friends when it is done. Even the deleted scenes are all funny as hell. Make sure you watch them. There is an extended version of Jack Blacks performance.
and to AM that says the adam sandler movie "out to sea" sucks. adam sandler was never in a movie called out to sea. i think you are thinking of "going overboard". going overboard does suck.

'Rocky Horror Picture Show' - 1975-76'
1. dude, tim curry, in lingerie, skanky lingerie, who would miss that?
2. anything produced in the 70's that actually has a laughter to it, yes, yes.
3. it's sort of a musical!!
4. susan surrandon, actually is pretty in her younger self.
5. you see mostly everyone in skanky lingerie and their unmentionables
6. the time warp, priceless
7. who could sing 'sexy transvestite' and actually pull it off?
8. it's a cult film! didn't hit the mainstream as well it would have liked to but hit the midnight crowd in twilight showings.
9. Riff-Raff is Egor's cousin....in looks that is.
10. it'll make you want to trip out and dance. oh yes it will.
Easy - Flying High (or Airplane) - FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER!
Classic lines like young girl saying "I take my coffee black - like my men," or "Surely you can't be serious" "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley." Brilliant.
Or Plan B from Outer Space - supposed to be a thriller alien movie, but is so bad it's hilarious

Let us travel through time, shall we?
Let's start with "Animal House". Riotously funny and a great upstart cast.
"History of the World....Part 1". You really can't go wrong with Mel Brooks, so I'll throw in "Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein"....if you do not laugh hysterically at least twice in these movies, you need a doctor.
"Porky's". Not for the kids...but my all-time favorite funny movie.
"Airplane". You have to be in the mood for tongue-in-cheek, but well woth the smirks.
"Princess Bride"....Andre the Giant cracks a joke...need I say more?
Fast forward....."Dumb & Dumber"...Classic idiocy.
"Baby's Day Out". Possibly one of the funniest scenes ever in a comedy movie....
And, most recently..."Knocked Up". So pleasantly surprised at the level of funny...I almost cried laughing.
Would like to mention "Shrek" as possibly the funniest cartoon I've ever seen.
"There's Something About Mary" -- This movie has so many funny moments and it's a sweet love story too.
"Happy Gilmore" Adam Sandler and Bob Barker getting into a fight on the golf course...need I say more?
"Tommy Boy" That scene where they're driving down the road and the hood flies up...gets me laughing every time. There's a lot of other funny moments in that movie too. Damn it sucks that Chris Farley won't be making any more movies.
"Heaven and Earth" Chris Rock is so funny in that movie.
The Great Race. (1965) Directed by Blake Edwards. Starring jack Lemon, Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood, Peter Falk with an all-star cast.
Set in the 1920's Tony Curtis (The Great Leslie) is the hero in white, always wins, always squeaky clean (even his teeth sparkle). Jack Lemon (Professor Fate) is the villain. His antics are a cross between Wile E. Coyote & Snidley Wiplash. Peter Falk (Max) is his sidekick. Natalie Wood (Ms. Dubois) is a young, proud woman for women's rights.
The Hillarity begins immediately in the opening credits (I'm not going to spoil it). The Great Leslie proposes a race from New York to Paris to prove American autombile superiority. After consideral pressure the local paper hires Ms. Dubois as a field reporter to cover the race. The high jinks take you all over the world, & eventully lead to the largest pie fight in movie history. It took 8,000 pies & six days to shoot.
This movie is a must see at least once. It's Coyote & the Roadrunner meets, Dudly Doright, meets The Keystone Cops. I've lost track how many times I've seen it.
