Does Denzel Washington play virtually the same character in every movie?!

Question: Think about it, in every movie, he makes some high-handed, dramatic speech...lemme think of some off-handed examples:

Crimson Tide: "Commander, if we launch, the Russians are gonna launch back, then there's gonna be nothing left to go back to, if you really want to take that chance, then you GO AHEAD, AND DO IT!"

Training Day: "King Kong, AIN'T GOT **** ON ME!"

American Gangster: "Blue Magic is a product, it's a brand name...blah blah"

I'm sure you can visualize most Denzel performances and realize he's playing the same character in every one. Let's see, John Q., Remember the Titans...I love the guy, but he's getting really old and stupid...That's my opinion.

I agree with you....and the sad part is that he used to be a good actor before his ego got the better of him. "Philadelphia" was the last movie he acted in. His performances in every movie since can hardly be called acting.

pretty much and he plays it good

Umm..I see very different characters in John Q and Remember the Titans, have you ever seen those two movies?

I know, right!

What the F*ck. Why u hatin. He is a good actor and hella sexy. jus cause he got money and doin his thing dont mean u gotta hate. he is choose to do those rolls because he is good at playing them. and he dont care if they are stupid rolls or not he's getting PAID. And he is not gettin old and stupid.

Yeah, I agree. He's a great actor at playing the same part over and over.

Well, as far as dialog is concerned, he says these speeches because that is what the writer of the movie demands of him. I feel since most producers see him as a serious actor, those are the type roles he is offered to draw in money for their films. Look at Jim Carey for example. Producers mostly call him for comedic roles and rarely serious roles because that is what Jim Carey first started out making and will draw money to their films as well.
