Can anyone tell me the name of this movie (near 1978)?!

Question: Anyone already seeing this, yes it is the third posting..
The only quote (or spoken phrase) I remember in the movie is:
"You don't know me, but...you will"
It is a coming of age movie about a new student who campaigns for ASB President (or student body president). It has a general high school theme, with the only identifying element i remember being : His friends stage a drug bust on someone's locker and make him look like a hero to get votes. Before the campaign ends, he finds out and admits it to all.

More meaning to the drug bust, from what i can remember: It has to do with friends hiring someone to act like a cop. He took action, unknowingly, in the heat of a dramatic but completely faked scenario, with many other students (also not knowing) to see him. This popularized him for votes...Hope that makes a little more sense.

The movie that comes to my mind is "Almost Summer" (1978). The lead character campaigns against his ex-girlfriend for class president. It stars Bruno Kirby, Lee Purcell and Tim Matheson.
