Halloween and Freddy Kruegar
Evil Dead, including Army of Darkness, has tremendous cult following. Also the Dario Argento Zombie films are excellent.
Personally, I would recommend A Nightmare On Elm Street. Most of those movies are great. Do stay away from Freddy vs. Jason though...
