Question: It has two or three different names, but has this guy going to the Xiaolin temple to train in martial arts then he goes back to his village to avenge the death of his family and friends. I'd like to know the name of the main actor too.

Sounds like it is "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin", also known as "Master Killer" or even "Shaolin Master Killer".
It was out of production for a long time, but you can find it online using any of the three titles. If it helps, the main actor is Gordon Liu, the same guy who played "Johnny Mo" and "Pei Mei" in the "Kill Bill" movies.
Great flick! I also recommend "Five Deadly Venoms".
almost all old kung fu movies have the same boring plot.its all about revenge,but i still like them because of the fights.
