Answers: just been to see saw 4 it was good but still had no ending so theres going to be another one.

I know this sounds obvious but because of the profit to be made. They know people are going to be sitting down for an hour and a half, and you ARE going to want either food or a drink. That's why it is virtually the first thing you see and smell as you walk through the doors. Nothing short of good old exploitation. Oh and have you noticed how stuff is kept at kids eye level so they will pester their parents?

because it costs alot to run it all

because you need drinks n food for a movie so dey sell it to u expensive so dey make mor money $$$

I find that its just easier to wait and get a DVD out of"red box", lol, and buy my own food.Blame all of the costs that go into getting a "good" first run movie into theaters today(My mom use to say that when she was a kid, she could go into a movie, and still have money for candy, popcorn and a soda for $1.00. Those days are gone:()

Its called a Rip Off, you are stuck with what they will offer so they make a killing , I prefer not to buy

its a rip off and its how they make a nice profit. It costs £2.80 in my cinema for a standard bottle of coke.

Because of fuckers like Time-Warner. I HATE America - we used to be a great country until they dumped all their shite over here.

because it tastes good??...i dunno just a guess ha

theatres have to pay for the copies of the movies they show.

they also give the companies the ticket sales.

the only thing the theatre makes any money off of is snack stand .

thats why.

because when you pay for your movie ticket a large percentage of that money goes to the film company that made the movie. Movie houses make their money off of the concessions.

so far nobody gave the correct answer. its simple economics, the movie theater is allowed to enforce the policy of 'no outside concessions' and that can include bottled water or even something they don't sell. the goal is to great a monopoly so they can set prices however high they want, truthfully the price they pick is done so because to lower it wouldn't necessarily mean more people will buy it and if so, they wouldn't turn a greater profit by selling more goods. the prices that are set, are what they are, because people will pay that amount. same thing at sports events or a club, where a beer is $9.

fill your pockets with sweets before going
