Why can't I just enjoy recently made films without thinking "I could ha!

Question: I'm always thinking there are certain scenes in films that just seem like they should have been a slightly different way... I have studied a lot of films, most of them made around the 70's to early 90's period... but films today just don't seem to cut it... Although many I love and enjoy, but theres just those CERTAIN films where I think that... obviously if it is a silly comedy film I just watch passivly as intended... but when it comes to a more deeper films I feel really critical...

After watching loads of 'great classics' do I just have too much of a high opinion now? lol

they churn out so much rubbish today to make a profit, especially with sequels and merchandising.
sometimes i think hollywood has forgotten to add a storyline to films, the quality isn't as good as older films, although you do still get some real gems in amongst all the tat.

My boyfriend does that. I just whack him in the head and tell him to stop over-analyzing things.

i'm with you on this one .... like the ending of die of die hard 4 lol

it may be the director hidden inside of you, why not write a script and forward it, you never know

Because it's easy to look at someone else's work and think, you would've done that differently, or changed this bit. But at the end of the day, given a blank piece of paper what you would've created is probably a whole lot less than what the screen-writers and film makers have done.

No, i agree with you.
Transformers is a perfect example, Optimus prime truck didn't have a 'long nose' in the cartoon, but in the film they used one of them big rigs with the long nose.
Just ruined the film for me.

Perhaps because you're out of touch with today's audiences?

Or is that you are egotistical beyond reproach?

Or maybe you have some sort of God complex and think that you can do better at most things in general?

I think most people think they could have done a better job with films or books or any type of media really. But that is because you are seeing it from your own personal point of view, so obviously you could watch a film and think of ways to improve it but the director/producer/writer have to aim it at a mass audience and therefore it cant be perfect in every way for every person.
You probably like the 'Great Classics' as that is what we are brought up to like and they are then benchmark to what we compare everything else to so obviously they are going to be the best.

to be honest, i think a lot of the films they pump out these days are all a load of tripe. i hate all the huge hollywood guff and large franchise films like spiderman 3, Pirates 3, shrek 3, die hard 4- all just a bunch of cash-ins. i find you have to dig a bit deeper than the cinema tosh - and films with their large budgets. one film we recently watched and love was london to brighton - pure example of a good, low budget film with out all the hype.

Professional therapists call this "Delusions of Grandeur". It's an indication that you're not as great as you think you are. I would say that it may be a good idea to lay off the mind altering drugs for a while.
