I always watch the director's cut because ususally it's a better film. With directors' cuts, you get to see the story that the director wanted to tell, not the story that the MPAA decided was suitable for audiences.

I would watch the theatrical because it's always fun to come up with your own theories as to why the director chose to go the route he did for a movie. 1408 was a great movie, IMO, because it really made you think. After watching it just once, I joined an online discussion board to theorize what really happened and why. If you like thinking and pondering over things, then I suggest you just watch the theatrical. Sometimes, what you come up with is different from what the director was trying to portray, which really opens up our eyes and minds, making it more fun and interesting.

You should just watch it twice...even thought you said you're only going to di watch it once. I saw it in the movies twice and once when it came out on dvd.....great movie

always the directors cut. that is the version the director wanted to make but the mpaa (motion picture association of america- the ones who come up with the ratings) wouldn't let them release in theaters without being rated nc-17.
