Which is the best heist/robbery film?!

Question: Great suggestions here, but the absolute best has to be Rififi - a 1950s French film directed by Jules Dassin. The actual robbery sequence lasts around 20 mins and plays in absolute silence. The tension is fantastic. If everyone on YA had seen this film it would be the only answer. Check it out on the web and hire yourself a copy, you won't be disappointed.

The original Italian job

Topkapi

White Light White Heat and Killing Zoe.

Buster & Italian Job

The Heist with Gene Hackman. I also agree that the Ocean's movies are great too :) Liked the Thomas Crown Affair too!

Maybe you are old enough to remember Topkapi from the 1960's....that had a good plot with a good heist....clever without lots of blood and guts.

hands down... any of the Ocean's 11, 12, 13 movies... humorous and unusual plot twists

I love Sneakers with Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier and Ben Kingsley. It's about a team of computer hackers who get mixed up in a scheme to steal the ultimate decryption device. Great story, great acting, and a lot of humor. It also stars Dan Ackroyd, River Phoenix (Joaquin's older brother), and David Strathairn. James Earl Jones also makes an appearance.

Reservoir Dogs

Gotta go with the classics -
The Sting, with Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

oceans 11

reindeer games with ben affleck

"Robbery" - based on the "The Great Train Robbery" of which "Buster" is also based on!

Oceans Eleven, the original version(1960), and Lock, Stock, and two Smoking Barrels(1998)

I agree with The sting and The Italian Job. Reservoir Dogs was a good one.

It's a bit of a 'cult film' ( meaning no-one's seen it ), but there was an Australian film in the 80s called 'Malcolm' which had a geek and an ex-con join forces to rob a bank using radio-controlled cars disguised as big free-standing ashtrays. It's one of the best films ever!

the hot rock (1973) robert redford, superb for it's time.

the italian job, 3 kings, the thomas crown affair, entrapment, oceans 11, 3000 miles to graceland,
