Is The Shawshank Redemption a crime movie?!

Question: Imdb lists so.

Answers: Imdb lists so.

I wouldn't consider it a crime film - Tim Robbin's character was falsely convicted and didn't even commit one. Prison film would be a better classification, but it really was about the friendship between the inmates.

yes people are in prison for committing crimes

Not really - more a triumph over adversity movie. It is set in jail but it is about a friendship that develops with prison as the backdrop.

Great movie.

great movie. i can see where they might classify it as such as the movie is based on prison life. but the above answer is the best.

A couple people are beaten violently and a few are killed violently so I guess the answer to your question is "yes " based on these two facts, alone.

Not at all... This movie is about friendship and how hope and determination can get you through anything. Man's triumph over adversity.

This is my all-time favorite movie.

no, its wirth checking it out

Excellant movie! Tim Robbins' character gets wrongfully accused for murdering his wife and spends many years in prison, that's a crime in itself. He outwits the warden, and sets up his life after prison term is over. Ironically, he gets the better of the judicial system.

no it is not,i think you should watch the movie again and read the short story by Stephen king so you will think like me...it is drama

Not at all...
