Why / When did Star Wars become "nerdy"?!

The movies themselves are not nerdy. People just run the risk of being thrown in with the nerds if they seem to take it a little too seriously.
Whenever you have a fantasy movie that shows a world that is better than our world people are always going to wish they could be there instead. Let's face it the thought of being a star fighter pilot who has an indestructible laser sword and can move things with their mind sounds pretty cool. It is when people start dressing up and believing they are Jedi, and trying to make Jedi a religion that moves in into nerd category. I am not saying these things are bad and more power to you if that is what you like to do. But humans have an inner need to label and compartmentalize things. Nerd is the closest word that come to mind in these cases
I always wondered this too, since wouldn't the "jock" / hypermasculing find all the explosions and warfare exciting?
It's because people started dressing like storm troopers and stuff like that. Plus it's a sci-fi, so it automatically goes into the geek category (unfortunatelly)
it is not nerdy just people who are obsessed and collect plastic things and don't play with them are
cause usually nerds watch them. I think the phantom menace,attack of the clones, and revenge of the sith r great movies. i dont really like the older 1s tho
I don't know when but it's like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings even if they're really great movies or stories they're also fantasy which means there will always be someone who thinks they're stupid. Of course those are usually the people with no imagination.

I think it became nerdy when people dressed as starfighter pilots and painted their cars to look like X-wings. Also, if you stand outside of Lucasarts with a knife in hand screaming at the top of your lungs demanding to see George Lucas cuz yur a Jedi, then youve taken it to far. (True story) Dont get me wrong, i love all six, even one and two. All i want is for them to go back and digitally digitally remaster 4,5,6. Its kinda annoying to go from crystal clear and special effects and huge believable battles to 456 where its grainy, the battles dont even look real and the lightsabers were basically glowing sticks. I love em all though. More power to nerds!

i dont think most star wars fans are the stereotypical sloberring nerd with acne and thick glasses.
