John Williams or Nobuo Uematsu?!

Question: Alright these 2 composer's have been compared for years given their individual contributions to their respective genres.

Nobuo Uematsu has best been known for his work on the Final Fantasy series (He departed from Square Enix in 2004) and has put together some of the most influential and award winning music in video game history. His music has been said to tell the story without the use of words, and in my opinion is a musical genus of this era.

On the other hand we have John Williams, who has best been known for his work on the Star Wars films (all 6!!).

The music of the cult-developing movies series has always been a staple for making the movies so much more interesting and dramatic. George Lucas himself has admited that Star Wars was originally intended to be a silent film, and with the music of John Williams it could be. In my opinion a true legend of the musical industry.

So.....Who has done the best job with the time the've had, John Williams or Nobuo Uematsu

Uematsu because he didn't just score media, he created a new awakening in music and helped legitimize the (video game) industry. Williams' music is beautiful and memorable, but so is Uematsu's, and given that Uematsu at the start of his career had less to work with than Williams (boops and beeps essentially), I think Uematsu has done more and deserves credit for it.

by Far Williams is superior... not only star wars, but a lot more...

also try Danny Elfman... James Newton Howard, Jerry Goldsmith,

John Williams. He is responsible for so much more than just the Star Wars saga. Besides the Star Wars movies, Superman, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and ET, and too many other movies to list... these movies wouldn't be as powerful without WIlliams' music. When you listen to a movie score by John Williams, you can practically re-live the movie in your mind.

Uematsu's music is beautiful to listen to, and I respect his talent tremendously, but there is just something about John WIlliams' music that I have always loved.
