Why is the film Beowulf "animated"?!

Question: I find it more than weird to see a clearly computerized face looking exactly like the actor.

Is this a way to make CGI FX cheaper?

(I find it rather creepy, like watching a very lengthy video game cut or something!)

Cost-effectiveness is debatable as the cost for computer animators to complete the motion-capture process is expensive, just like when action films pay for special effects. The difference here is they don't have to create sets, which saves the production company a lot in the long run. While some characters may even wear costumes for some scenes, they can often just wear green or blue (depending on whether they use green or blue screen technology in the film) and the computer animators can add costumes later.

In addition to cost concerns, they can also do certain stunts that cannot be done with real actors. This can also be done through visual effects, but soem animation purists believe certain stories must be told through animation as visual effects can sometimes look too comical and unrealistic when not balanced with the rest of the film's live-action nature.

This is the same technique used on The Polar Express a few years ago with Computer Animation. Hand-drawn animation has a longer-history of the motion capture technique. Recent examples include Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly.

yea i kno.
i think its cuz da story is fer students rite so since it have angies nude scene they decided to sumhow "cover" it up or "censor" it a lil bit. i think.
