Your pulse is blood being pumped through your body in hard squirts, but it isn't the power of a fountain or a jet... and the more you bleed out on your pulse, the less pressure there is to push the blood out in a spray. It might spray out for a second or two, but by a couple of heartbeats, the pressure isn't high enough and the blood is just leaking out of the wound.
