Wizard of OZ movie trivia ?????!
Question: Caught part of the Wizard of OZ last night. Regarding the scene in the Munchkin village. It is obvious that some of the "Munchkin" actors are midgets (sorry if thats not correct terminology), but, many of them appear to be children. Does anyone know how many Munchkins played in that scene and how many of them were midgets and how many were children ?

My Grandmother worked on the set of that movie...she worked for MGM for many years.....and she said that there were exatcly 122 midgets (they prefer to be called little people).
A man named Leo Singer born in Europe as Baron Leopold Van Singer Put together a group of midgets for a vaudeville show that toured the european cities. He was conctracted by MGM to find 124 Little People for the movie..and when he returned with only 122, they realized that it was just not enough..So they employed 12 children for the fill in of the munchkins. The children were not trained for singing and dancing they were only used as extras....
All the Lead actors and singers were little people.
i watched a special on that movie and most of them where young little people. I do not think many of them where children
some where children i think and some were not. I'm not sure but there's more children
I saw something on TV, it said they were all midgets. No children. Maybe children midgets. That, I am not sure.
i used to go to the wizard of oz festival when i was little and they would have some of the munchkins there,hmmm...i dont think most of them were children
Approximately 70% were "little people" and the rest were children
